Hi! I am Detta of Detta On The Daily. In my roles over the last decade that have included being a Human Resources Assistant and Generalist, an Employment Specialist, and Career Services Advisor I’ve had the pleasure of actively participating in and observing hundreds of recruiting actions and initiatives in addition to mentoring individuals from all walks of life on how best to execute their talent and skills in the workforce.

I took great pleasure in seeing these individuals flourish and excel in their career paths and learned from their stories as well as my own professional experiences. From it all, some common themes emerged:

• Oftentimes it isn’t just what you know but who you know.

• Preparation yields better success when opportunities present themselves.

• Networking and access to career resources goes a long way in making one’s career story a successful one.

That’s where I come in...

I’ve been both the job seeker as well as the representative of an employer. I’ve reviewed, ranked, and rated thousands of resumes, created interview questions and sat on interview panels and saw every mistake. I experienced mistakes and setbacks of my own as I climbed the professional ladder and am still climbing my way up. I know the frustration and exhaustion of placing countless job applications and receiving limited callbacks or not getting the call I anticipated from interviews.

Over the years I learned the hard way what it takes to go from a job seeker to gainfully employed the hard way. I’ve learned how to start and maintain a successful career path as a military spouse despite constant moves and I understand the unique challenges and pitfalls facing our Veterans when they transition out of an active-duty lifestyle and back into the realities of civilian life.
